  • Richmond Code Camp X Recap

Introduction  The tenth Richmond Code Camp was held today at the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College campus on Parham Road. It. was. awesome! With 40 sessions and over 400 registered, this #RichCC was arguably the best one yet! There's a lot that goes into planning an event of this magnitude. I commend the Code Camp Leadership Team for ...

  • And The Winner Is...

David Taylor! There were a lot of really great comments on the post titled A Visual Studio 2010 MSDN Seeding Card Giveaway Contest! The judging was completely subjective - just me reading the comments and making a call. One suggestion was apparently plagarized... bummer. All of the projects sound awesome and I hope those who commented will ...

  • The Best Thing I Learned At PASS

I attended my first PASS Summit in 2004. I also attended a pre-conference (pre-con) led by Kalen Delaney. It was awesome! Kalen's pre-con focused on performance tuning, and I learned a lot about both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. The most important thing I learned was: I was not alone! There's a whole lot of us out there, lurking ...

  • On Developer Communities: Meeting Idea - Fix the Broken Code!

Robin Edwards is the leader of the Roanoke Valley .Net User Group. They did something really cool for their last meeting (July 2008). As Robin describes it: Some of the members of RV.NUG tossed around a way to get more involvement during the meeting AND deal with the low summer attendance by coming up with something fun and easy.  We were ...

  • Speaking In Kansas City

I'll be in Kansas City next week doing some SSIS training. I don't think I've ever been to KC so I'm looking forward to the trip! When I found out I would be in town, I dutifully contacted the Kansas City SQL Server Users Group to see if they were having a meeting. When traveling I like to check out Users Groups to see what other folks are doing ...
