The following is an excerpt from SSIS Design Patterns (now available in the UK!) Chapter 7, Flat File Source Patterns. The only planned appearance of all five authors presenting on SSIS Design Patterns is the SSIS Design Patterns day-long pre-conference session at the PASS Summit 2012. Register today. Let’s look at producing a footer row and ...

For the past two years, I have had the honor and privilege or authoring SSIS Design Patterns alongside Jessica Moss, Michelle Ufford, Tim Mitchell, and Matt Masson. Publication of the book – like many projects of this scope – has been delayed. The current publication date is 27 Aug 2012 and I have high confidence in this date.

That call to action from Microsoft Leadership struck a chord with many in the SQL Server MVP Community. The response? SQL Server MVP Deep Dives, released at the PASS Summit 2009. Proceeds from the sale of that book continue to go to War Child International.

I read a preview and was definitely impressed so I expect the full version to be just as good. More details can be found here and it is available at Amazon here as well. I hope you enjoy it.

Seth points out the (dying) ...

I was amazed at the results when I just did a search of SQLBlog, and realized no one had really blogged here about the changes to the Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) program. Greg Low described the MCM program when he decided to pursue the MCM at the end of 2008, but two years later, at the end of 2010, Microsoft completely changed the ...

A while ago, I was offered to have an early look at the book ''SQL Server DMVs in Action'' (by Ian W. Stirk). This morning, I received a copy (in electronic form) from Manning Publications of the book. So I jumped straight into the book, and here are some thoughts from a quick first look:
DMVs were introduced in SQL Server 2005, ...

If, for who knows what reason, you haven't yet got your copy of the SQL MVP Deep Dives book, you can't pass it up today.
It is the ''Deal of the Day'' at Manning, and you can get it for only $25!
Check it out at at: http://www.manning.com/nielsen/ (the main Manning page at http://www.manning.com/ mentions the deal, in the top right corner)
