I love all Canada: maple sugar candy, loonies and toonies, Mounties, old town Montreal with its French history, the CN tower in Toronto, Stanley Park in Vancouver, and high tea at the Fairmont Empress Victoria.

Canada is pure Jazz. Is there a more talented voice in Jazz today than Diana Krall? (I have every CD, DVD-Audio, SuperAudioDisk, and DVD she's produced.)

Did you know that Fast Company Magazine just listed Calgary as one of the top 12 fast cities to watch for innovation and technology? Edie's family has a house in Nova Scotia. My favorite restaurant in Epcot is Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Oh, Canada area with the beautiful flower gardens modeled after the Butchad gardens in Victoria. Even my most comfortable t-shirt is embroidered with the Canadian flag and "Victoria." Yep I love Canada.

So why isn't his post OT? Because Jean-Rene asked me to present my Smart Database Design Seminar in Vancouver next month and I couldn't be happier than to work with Jean-Rene in Vancouver.

http://www.sqlteach.com/specialevent.aspx

Smart Database Design is the idea that an elegant physical schema sets up the developer for writing great set-based queries that respond well to indexing which results in tighter transactions and more scalability. The seminar walks through each layer and examines design pattern options from the mindset of a data architect. Essentially, the seminar presents design and development best practices blended with a methodology to determine which are and aren't true best practices in the long run. It's interactive and fun, and it's in Vancouver July 28-29.

And to top it off, I'm presenting Tuesday evening at the Vancouver SQL Server User Group, eh?
