Introducing SQL Server 2008 - The Book

It took a while, but a new e-book authored by yours truly, Greg Low, and Mark Whitehorn is finally available. And it's free!

To get your free copy, browse to http://www.microsoft.com/learning/sql/2008/default.mspx. From there, look in the Special Offers section for the "Free e-book offer". Although the site states you can get excerpts, the whole book is available for reading.

Many, many thanks to Greg and Mark for their quality contributions to the book.

Hey Peter, thanks a lot for the great (free) book!  Looks very well organized and comprehensive.  Two observations:

(1)

In the introduction, you say: "Welcome to SQL Server 2008 (AKA "Yukon")" ... I think you meant AKA "Katmai"...

(2)

No coverage of Change Tracking or Change Data Capture?  I haven't read cover-to-cover but those areas certainly don't exist at the high level contents.

Aaron,

Thanks!

In regards to (1), Katmai was indeed meant. The front matter wasn't tech checked and Yukon slipped through unnoticed until this morning (I've already been informed about the typo).

In regards to (2) - alas, it would have been nice to have, but unfortunately these things never made it into the book. Alas, in 200 pages of content, you can only fit so much. Perhaps these and other missed topics would make a nice appendix...

As Greg noted in his post, once you are viewing the book, press F8 to show the toolbar and then save a copy of the PDF; or press Ctrl-Shift-S to Save As.

Hmm...who noted that you could use F8 to show the toolbar?

Indeed. My humblest apologies, Kalen. My comment should have read "As was noted in Greg's post... by my good friend Kalen..." :-)
