Two Quest Products are now GA

As you may know, I've been with Quest Software for several years now.  I'm proud of our SQL Server products and had a hand in the development of most of them.  Here are two new releases that I'd like to mention:

Change Director for SQL Server v1.2 provides a powerful automated solution for managing change to SQL Server databases. Change Director for SQL Server gives DBAs the means to control changes made to their SQL Server databases and make the change processes transparent and manageable. It has the ability to quickly roll out real-time or scheduled database changes and includes change monitoring and reporting capabilities to ensure proper tracking of planned or unplanned changes. Pricing starts at $795/server.  Get your free trial at

Quest Performance Analysis for SQL Server 6.0 is GA, and is now live at  Key new features of Performance Analysis for SQL Server 6.0:

þ      New Performance Dashboard

þ      Change Tracking

þ      Intelliprofile™

þ      Performance Advisories

þ      Executive and Comparison to Baseline reports

þ      Simplified install

Your Performance Analysis gadget sounds interesting. Does it utilise agents? I found them so troublesome on previous products. Also what are the licensing costs?

I hate to sound like an idiot, but I don't know how much it costs.

Performance Analysis is a very sophisticated product.  It includes a middleware component so that you can compare performance from period to period over any time that you've monitored SQL Server.  Thus, you could compare today's performance with last month and last year at the same time.  It does use an agent called StealthCollect that has the industry's lowest overhead - at or less than 1%.  It's unique among all monitoring products.  Check out more details at the URL above.

Best regards and thanks for the comment,
