TechEd News

I know it's very common for bloggers to give play by play accounts of conferences they are attending, and sometimes those blog posts can even be interesting to read. I will be leaving this evening for Orlando, to speak at TechEd 2007, and I do NOT plan on posting every day. However, interesting new things I learn may turn out to be blog fodder in the not too distant future.

However, this post is to announce the fact that I will be moderating a discussion on the Costs of Concurrency. This will be a type of session called 'Birds of a Feather' and my discussion will take place Tuesday evening at 6:30. I have been specifically told that there will be no projector in the room and no whiteboard. It makes me very nervous not to have those two main tools of my trade. Anyone who has seen me teach or present knows that I am very hands on and love to demonstrate any features or facts that I discuss. To not be able to SHOW my listeners what I mean or how some feature behaves, will be like having my hands tied behind my back. The point of the session is that it is to be a discussion, not a lecture. So I'll try ...

If you'll be at TechEd this week, and have experiences to share about unsolvable blocking problems, or resource usage with snapshot isolation, or deadlocks that couldn't be prevented, please come on by and share your stories and ask your questions. I'd love to hear your input!

Here are the details:

“BOF54: Microsoft SQL Server 2005: The Costs of Concurrency”, Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 6:30 PM, in Room N320 E. The session will last 60 minutes"

My regular breakout session session is:

“DAT409: Partition Magic: Storage Metadata in SQL Server 2005”, Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 2:45 PM to 4 PM, in Room N210 B."

Hmmm....even a discussion needs a whiteboard :)  Why don't you take one of those stands that holds paper OR turn the session into a mock radio hosting session.

Have fun!

Hi Kalen,

When I did a BOF last year (on ORM) they had an easel set up with a large pad of paper.  Just like a white board, just a bit lower tech :)
