Inside SQL Server... the book

I finished the actual writing of my Storage Engine volume today.  I thought that would be good fodder for my first blog entry.

Inside SQL Server 2005: The Storage Engine is now done. The last chapter was done a few weeks ago, but I still had to write front matter, including six pages of acknowledgements. There are still a few more chapter reviews that I have to do, and we are still waiting for Jim Gray's foreword, and he is stuck in Venice without a working laptop. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.

MS Press assures me that the book will be on the shelves in plenty of time for the SQL PASS conference in Seattle this November.

I was having a race with my daughter who was trying to finish her doctoral dissertation. I'm not sure yet who won.

Congrats, Kalen! Completing "Inside SQL Server 2005: The Storage Engine" is a very significant landmark as I've been waiting with much anticipation to read it! Hope to see you and the book at the SQL PASS conference here in Seattle as I too may have some most intersting news at that time!

Excellent!  We don't use SQL2005 here mainly because our in house developed application has a shelf life (supposedly) of October 2006, so there are no plans to upgrade to 2005...Boooooooooooooo!

However, I will still order myself a copy and have a good read!
