Get to Know SQL Server 2012's SQL Server Data Tools [article published]

I recently wrote an article on SQL Server Data Tools for SQL Server Magazine and it has now been published online at Get to Know SQL Server 2012's SQL Server Data Tools. In the article I offer my thoughts and opinions on SQL Server Data Tools as it exists in SQL Server 2012.

Note that the article refers to SSDT database projects only, there is nothing in there pertaining to SSIS, SSAS or SSRS. If you find that confusing then you should probably go and at least read the first few paragraphs of the article where I try to alleviate some of that confusion.

Constructive feedback is, as always, very welcome.

Good job on the article. One thing that I found in using SSDT was that the Refactoring seems to take place somewhat even without using the explicit "Refactor" operation. Renaming a column caused a refactor log to be generated when we did that at one time. Of course, we also ended up renaming it back to the original name so I ended up killing that change from the refactor log rather than go through several rename operations.  That refactoring is great for actual column renames instead of the standard create table, copy data, drop original table method that SQL seems to like so much.

Great introductory article for SSDT and the Declarative model. I'll be sharing it with some people on our team who would probably find it useful.
