Microsoft SQL Server 2008 CTP 4 Released

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 CTP 4 has been released on 20070831. So I have been sleeping for the last couple of days and missed this. Connect didn't email me either  ;-(

This download comes as a pre-configured VHD. This allows you to trial SQL Server 2008 CTP 4 in a virtual environment.

Get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6a39affa-db6e-48a9-82e4-4efd6705f4a6&displaylang=en&tm

Isn't CTP4 the July CTP?

I think the new thing is that it's in a VHD.

Probably yes, why couldn't they just name it July CTP (VHD) then? AFAIK the first 2 betas were not public anyway. And why did they wait a whole month to release this on VHD?

But where is the August CTP then, I guess they are skipping that (I would be way to spoiled if we got a new CTP every single month)?

Naming it "July CTP" would make too much sense :)

You are correct, the first 2 "CTPs" were not public.  MS seems to have forgotten what CTP means/meant.  Kind of annoying...

Earlier it was available via connect site where the user need to register, now the users can directly download from MS Download. Agree that this confuses with July CTP.

About Denis Gobo

I was born in Croatia in 1970, when I was one I moved to Amsterdam (and yes Ajax is THE team in Holland) and finally in 1993 I came to the US. I have lived in New York City for a bunch of years and currently live in Princeton, New Jersey with my wife and 3 kids. I work for Dow Jones as a Database architect in the indexes department, one drawback: since our data goes back all the way to May 1896 I cannot use smalldates ;-( I have been working with SQL server since version 6.5 and compared to all the other bloggers here I am a n00b. Some of you might know me from http://sqlservercode.blogspot.com/ or even from some of the newsgroups where I go by the name Denis the SQL Menace If you are a Tek-Tips user then you might know me by the name SQLDenis, I am one of the guys answering SQL Questions in the SQL Programming forum.
