They are gifts for her children and one gift is gone, within two weeks of Christmas.
 Thanks! That's an awesome compliment.

You make a good point - we need to pass things like this along to our children. I recently started sharing some of this with Stevie Ray. We've been talking about ethics, leadership, treating people fairly, and doing good. I was surprised by how he engaged in the conversations, and very proud to see him putting some of our talks into action with his friends and our family... ok, this is getting long enough to be another blog post...

I get calls from recruiters and vendors from time to time and I'll always return their calls though I'm not necessarily interested. If someone is going to take time out of their day to contact me, I can at least be courteous and return the call.

As for the pink people, I've also had my share. To me, the best managers are the ones who understand a little about the tech they're managing. In those cases where he/she doesn't, the good ones allow the person close to the trenches to help make the decision. The lousy ones just look at raw figures and try to get them to match up to (usually) unreasonable estimates

Balance, Part 1

Introduction This post is the fifth part of a ramble-rant about the software business.
The best personality trait of a leader is humility. You can lead some people with fear and intimidation, but you can lead everyone with compassion and humility.
