PASS Virtual Chapters SSIS Presentations

Introduction

I love PASS Virtual Chapters! I appreciate the work PASS has put into the VCs and all things virtual. PASS has done a fantastic job utilizing LiveMeeting. 24 Hours of PASS and Virtual Chapters are but two examples.

Virtual Chapters

There are currently seven PASS Virtual Chapters:

Application Development
Business Intelligence
Database Administration
Performance
Professional Development
Virtualization
Women in Technology

I encourage you to watch for event announcements from PASS Virtual Chapters and make 2010 the year you start getting more training right from your desk!

Upcoming SSIS Presentations

There are a couple SSIS presentations this week to get you started:

PASS AppDev VC Presents: SSIS Workload Thread Load Balancing

January 12th at 12:00 PM Eastern (-5 noon)
Presenter: Josef Richberg

https://www.livemeeting.com/cc/usergroups/join?id=N5P3SZ&role=attend
How is it possible to aggregate 12,000,000 records of sales data in a short time window? In this presentation Josef Richberg will demonstrate the techniques used to randomize the input data and then use the SSIS threading framework to distribute the workload. These techniques make it possible to process a large quantity of data in a very short time frame.

PASS DBA VC Presents: Looping, Moving Files, and Splitting Data Streams: Intermediate SSIS Tasks for the DBA
January 13th at 12:00 PM Mountain (-7 noon)

Presenter: Tim Mitchell

In this session, we'll explore some of the intermediate-level tasks and data flow components of SSIS. Join in as we review the File System Task and the For Each Loop container, as well as data flow components including the Lookup Transformation, the Conditional Split, and the Derived Column. This session will include various demonstrations using SSIS 2008.

Conclusion

I appreciate the heads up about these presentations from my friend Aaron Nelson (Blog - @SqlVariant), who posted about this on his blog: SqlVariations. Aaron encourages you to leave requests for future presentation topics in the comments of his blog.
