SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 4 is available!

Microsoft has released the final Service Pack (SP4) for SQL Server 2008.
  • Build # 10.00.6000
  • KB Article: KB #2979596 (Download)
  • 6 public fixes, including important security fixes from MS14-044
  • Relevant for builds < 10.00.6000
  • NOT for SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.xxxx)

Once more, this is the last service pack for SQL Server 2008, and it will not appear in Microsoft Update. Both 2008 and 2008 R2 are now out of mainstream support, and neither versions will receive any further cumulative updates. Now might be a good time to start planning to getting up to date on all of the fixes possible.
